Pfizer UK, in partnership with CBRE Workplace Experience, required a fully compliant, commercially licensed background music solution for public and communal areas at its UK headquarters in Walton Oaks. Due to the high-security and bio-secure nature of Pfizer’s facility, any network-connected hardware had to undergo and pass strict Pfizer Digital IT security evaluations and firewall assessments. Auracle Sound supplied secure, dedicated LCD IP Audio Receiver units that met all corporate network security protocols while delivering seamless, multi-zone audio streaming integrated with the site’s fire safety system.

The Challenge

Pfizer’s Walton Oaks campus is a key operational and bio-secure headquarters governed by rigorous corporate IT infrastructure and security compliance policies. The project presented several critical engineering and security requirements:
Rigorous IT & Network Security: Any IP device connected to the corporate network had to undergo exhaustive security vetting by Pfizer Digital, requiring full MAC address registration, defined outbound port rules, and zero inbound accessibility to safeguard corporate network integrity.
Fire Alarm & Emergency Safety Integration: Audio hardware needed direct linkage with the site’s public address (PA) system to guarantee automatic music mute/cutoff in the event of a fire alarm or emergency broadcast.
Multi-Zone Atmosphere Control: Facilities management required independent audio control across open communal spaces (Lobby, Reception, Café, and Restaurant) with the ability to isolate specific areas during private meetings or corporate events.
Uninterrupted Audio Continuity: The solution required local offline storage capabilities to ensure continuous audio playback while network port provisioning and firewall exceptions were being configured by IT.

The Solution

Auracle Sound deployed hardwired, dedicated LCD IP Audio Receiver Units paired with an enterprise streaming architecture specifically engineered for high-security corporate network environments.
Outbound-Only Secure Network Architecture: The hardware operates on a client-initiated outbound connection model, communicating via TCP for device configuration, scheduling, and remote monitoring. Streaming data is received across specific TCP ranges, eliminating inbound open listening ports and meeting Pfizer Digital’s security criteria.
Dedicated Hardware Integration: Compact, rack-mountable IP receiver units were supplied and installed into the central AV/PA equipment rack by Marquee AV.
Automated Fire Mute Interlock: Integrated fire alarm cut-off relays automatically silence music channels upon alarm activation to prioritize life-safety announcements.
Onboard Offline Backup: Units were pre-loaded with backup micro-SD cards containing curated playlists, enabling immediate audio playback without waiting for final firewall rule activation.
Commercial Licensing & Zoning: Provided 100% commercially licensed, royalty-compliant music channels with central scheduling and local zone override options for CBRE’s workplace management team.
